“I can do this on my own,” he said as he caught his father’s hand. “You don’t need to watch me.”

“I know you can. I’m here just in case you… just in case, okay?”

He could sense his father’s hesitation. But he was determined. He could do it.

He went down on one knee, pulled the strings together and tied them together into a neat little bow. When he looked up, he saw his father’s beaming face.

“See? I don’t need you to do this for me anymore.”

“Clearly,” his father said. His little boy was all grown up.

In an effort to present myself with a creative challenge, yet take the pressure off and be regular, I’ve committed to myself to write a post with 100 words in the content every week. To make choosing the topic easier, I have assigned an alphabet to each week. For example, Week 1 (Jan 1-7) – A, Week 2 (Jan 8-14) – B, and so on. So in 52 weeks, the whole alphabet will be covered twice.
If you want to join in, feel free to write on any topic (you don’t need to adhere to A, B, C) and write any day of the week. The link will open every Monday, 8 AM IST and will be open till the following Monday, 7:55 AM IST.

  1. Cute story! What an accomplishment for both father and son! His little boy has definitely grown up. As I started to read I thought that the boy was riding his bike, but tying shoes on his own is another major achievement. 😀
